Trevor Terris
My name is Trevor Terris and I’m from a small town in Northeast Washington called Tonasket. Tonasket is an only 16 miles from the Canadian Border and is only home to about a 1,000 people. I left Tonasket after I graduated High School and I am currently a senior at Washington State University pursuing a degree in Communications with a minor in Sports Management. I have always had a love for sports but felt that a degree in communications gave my education some diversity that still allows me to still study sports.
Everyone on the Canine Café team contributes in many ways but my specific title is User Experience Manager. In other words, I oversee all media platforms to make sure they are representing the café well. I make sure the content within our social media pages are reflecting our main mission as a company. I like all the other people on the team apply any input where we see fit. The Canine Café team does have specific titles and duties but we have agreed to be flexible and be able to do jobs that were specifically within our duties.
Some of my career goals are very broad at this point in my life but I want to get a position within a sports organization. Within the next few years I want to have my foot in the door somewhere. I have started to get my foot in the door with campus recreation and intramurals. I am currently a UREC Competitive Sports Supervisor, aka I supervise intramurals and club sport events. I really enjoy this work and would love to work in a higher position within intramurals. Long-term I want to have a job with a sports franchise involved in event management. In the time being I will continue working for the U.S Forest Service fighting wild fires. I really enjoy fighting fire and while I’m physically able, getting the opportunity to travel for free the money is always a plus also.
I believe that some of my best qualities that I bring to the team is a hard-working individual, that works well with others. I have a go-getting attitude to make things happens, I don’t have much experience with animals or the café business. However, I know that from experiences with UREC and firefighting I will be able to do anything that I am asked of.
The one quote that I have always loved is a quote from the famous T.V show Friday Night Lights. “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose” this quote always stuck with me, because if you have a clear idea of what you want and passionate about what you are doing you or your organization can lose. There will always be moral victories and these victories can really keep a person going.

The business has many opportunities for events and every day joyful experiences and creating promotions, videos and advertisements falls within the creative designer’s operations. I am mostly excited about creating a website and going through the nuances of the web management process.
When allocated the time, I like to exercise my creative-mind and enjoy the process of drafting ideas while evolving them to fulfill perfection. I also myself to have a hard-working mentality which is complimented by a humble approach to share success with others. I enjoy working as an individual but gain a satisfaction coming together as a group and framing a goal.
I have been working with Adobe editing programs for the last few semesters while teaching myself the platform as well. Also, I do all my personal freelance editing through Sony editing platforms, WordPress, Audacity and Storify. I am proficient in those editing programs but am always ambitions to learn new skills within them. I created the business’s logo but with the help and vision of the team contributing ideas as well. I have a wide variety of interests such as sports, politics, music, entertainment, adventure, travel, astronomy, science and most importantly humor. I like to think that I know a little about everything which makes me easily adaptable to my friends and acquaintances’ personalities.
One of the quotes that have stuck with me is a quote that one of my high school coaches relayed to me which is, “Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.” – Oscar Wilde

Carrie Leen
My name is Carrie Leen and I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in Seattle
Washington but currently live in Pullman, Washington where I am a senior at Washington
State University. At WSU I am studying for a bachelors degree in Strategic Communications
with a minor in Human Development. I am the content manager for our Canine Cafe project
this semester. This means I am primarily in charge of the social media aspect of our
company. This includes everything from helping design our website page layouts to finding
innovative ways to encourages our customers to in engage with our Instagram, I am
involved. I enjoy this role because it is creative and engaging and has already been teaching
me a lot. It has allowed me to learn new skills while enhancing the ones I already have.
The thing I am most excited about learning this semester is learning more about the
world of web design and content creation in connection to project proposals. I love the idea
of being my own boss and having my own business. That is something I dream about
having one day. Therefore, I love the idea of this class allowing and teaching students how
to create and manage their own company. I want to learn more about the creative side of
owning my own business as well. There are obvious logistical aspects but learning about
the media, design, and creative process of it is going to be extremely new and interesting
for me to learn about.
My long-term goals for my career revolve around incorporating my knowledge in
communications with my love for humans. I think being able to communicate through
talking is something we as humans take take for granted. I also think it is one of the most
beautiful things about being human. Being able to communicate such a way allows for so
much development and possibility. It allows for so much exchange and growth. I want to
use that ability to create change. I want to do so specifically through the empowerment of
women. I’m still unsure as to exactly how that looks but that’s the fun in it. That unknown
can be scary but is equally important to our growth. While I don’t know exactly how I’m
going to do it, I do know and believe that whatever I am meant to do revolves around the
strength and power of women. It revolves round the fact that I am a strong and powerful
woman.
I think I offer a determined but relaxed personality to the group. Some people might
see relaxed as a negative trait but I view it completely different. To me being relaxed is to
be level headed. I am able to look at situations from a variety of perspectives to try to find
the best salutation for the greater good. I don’t act on emotions I act on understanding.
While I hold strong opinions I also keep an open mind. I think that is important when
working in a group setting. That being said I am extremely determined in finishing
something. There is always a solution to a problem and I will work my hardest to find it.
I will end with one of my favorite quotes from Thich Nhat Hanh who said, “There is
no way to happiness- happiness is the way.”

Marisa Correa
My name is Marisa Correa, I am twenty-two years old and I love dogs more than I love people (no joke). I am in my senior year at Washington State University. My major is Communication with a specialty in Public Relations which is the field I plan on pursuing a career in.
I was born in Bellevue WA and I lived in Corona CA until I was 9-years-old and my family made our way up to the Pacific North West. I enjoy traveling and have been to nine different countries. Since I’ve been around a bit I do feel comfortable saying that the Pacific North West truly is the best.
Here at Canine Café I am the project manager. I am in charge of organizing our schedule, assigning tasks, doing the final look over for completed projects, and so on. I like to be the one checking things off of our to-do list and make sure everything is staying according to plan.
I am an avid dog and caffeine lover so Canine Café was a perfect fit for me! At home I’ve got my dog-son Tito-Usnavi Heihei Fuentes Hernandez, but he goes by Tito for short. Tito is 8-years-old and has survived being run over by a car on two separate occasions. Tito now has a rather noticeable limp in his back left leg that makes it look like he’s hopping with delight every other step. He also has terrible anxiety that he takes medication for. I love Tito with all my heart and I know there are dogs out there with health problems like Tito has that aren’t too fortunate and need a good home. These are the types of dogs that don’t always get first pick when a family is looking to adopt and Canine Café has become a way to give these dogs a temporary sanctuary where they are cared for and loved until we can match them up with a new family!
I pride myself on being social and out-going. In my free time I enjoy performing and doing musical theatre, a true passion of mine. I have been performing for about seven years now and found that I thrive off of the energy I get when I am on stage or in front of a camera. Because of my performing experience I find myself very comfortable with public speaking and have no problem addressing large crowds of people.
I enjoy socializing, networking, and just speaking to people in general, which is probably why I do well working with others in groups.
Something I would like to work on this semester is my social media skills. It may sound strange since I am a millennial, but I don’t often use social media. I scroll through Facebook occasionally but will rarely like or comment on any posts. My main use for Facebook I get out of the Facebook Messenger app just as another form of communication. I hope through the Canine Café media channels I’ll learn how to make better use of social media.
